Winslow Stuns No. 6 Red Bank Catholic in Hard Fought Battle

Winslow walked into Red Bank Catholic on Saturday night without two of their best players. All-State defensive lineman Benji Carter was out for the second straight week and star running back Trey Alexander was in a walking boot. The Eagles had dropped two straight and needed something to change. KaRon Ceaser provided it.

The Penn State commit was everywhere in this game, rushing, receiving, returning kicks, and making plays on defense. He finished with a performance that carried Winslow to a 31–24 upset of the sixth-ranked Casey's. Coming off consecutive losses, this win sends a very clear message about what this program is capable of when their backs are against the wall.

The first quarter was a feeling-out process with both defenses setting the physical tone and no points scored. Red Bank Catholic broke through first in the second quarter when Gabe Kemp capped a lengthy 12-play, 73-yard drive with a five-yard touchdown run. Kemp was a workhorse all night with 33 carries, 182 yards, and three touchdowns, giving Winslow fits every time he touched the ball. The Eagles answered almost immediately. Ceaser broke free on a 52-yard touchdown run to cut it to 7–6, and a short Adnan Kassou field goal following an RBC fumble and a 42-yard Thompson-to-Andrew Kratee connection gave Winslow a 9–7 advantage. Red Bank answered with a Simon Picinich field goal to take a 10–9 lead into halftime after a 60-yard return set up good field position late in the half.

The Casey's looked in control when Kemp punched in another score early in the third to push the lead to 17–9. But Winslow's fourth quarter was something else entirely. Ceaser returned a punt 75 yards for a touchdown and converted his own two-point pass from Javon Thompson to tie the game at 17. Red Bank answered again through Kemp's third rushing score to go back up 24–17, but Winslow just kept coming. Ceaser ran in an 11-yard score to tie it at 24, and then Thompson found Jayion Moss on a 33-yard touchdown pass that gave the Eagles a 31–24 lead they would not surrender.

Thompson finished 18-of-28 for 275 yards with a touchdown, making big throws when it mattered and managing the game with poise despite the personnel losses around him. Moss was his primary weapon through the air, hauling in eight catches for 128 yards and the go-ahead score. Kratee added four receptions for 88 yards. Ceaser's all-around performance was the kind of complete game that turns heads at the next level, accounting for two rushing touchdowns, a punt return score, a two-point conversion catch, and contributions on the defensive side as well.

Rahmir Rivera and the RBC passing attack couldn't quite find a rhythm, finishing with 134 yards through the air and no touchdown passes. Kemp's three-score ground performance kept the Casey's in it, but Winslow's defense found enough stops in the fourth quarter to protect the lead when it counted.

Winslow improves to 4-2 and gets back on track in a meaningful way. Red Bank Catholic falls to 4-2 as well and will need to regroup with plenty of season remaining. For the Eagles, this one is about more than the record. They were shorthanded, doubted, and tested and they still found a way to win. That is the kind of resilience that makes a program dangerous heading into the back half of the schedule.
