Alessio Perentin, Delbarton
Senior Alessio Perentin wrapped up an outstanding season with a state championship at 165 pounds, further proving his dominance in one of New Jersey’s toughest weight classes. In the state finals, he defeated AJ Falcone of Christian Brothers Academy by major decision (12-3), capping off a season filled with impressive victories over top competition.
Perentin’s season-long consistency was remarkable, as he collected wins across the country at elite events, including the Catholic School Duals, Jack Welch Duals, and Powerade Tournament. His ability to break opponents down with his relentless pace and technical precision made him a nightmare matchup for any competitor.
Anthony Knox, St. John Vianney
Senior Anthony Knox made history this season, becoming just the fifth four-time state champion in New Jersey wrestling history. Wrestling at 126 pounds, Knox closed out his career with an 18-4 major decision over Nathan Braun of Bergen Catholic in the state finals. He remained undefeated throughout his high school career, proving to be one of the most dominant lightweights in the country. Knox’s legacy in New Jersey is cemented, and he now sets his sights on the collegiate and international levels, where he aims to continue his championship pedigree.
Harvey Ludington, Brick Memorial
Senior Harvey Ludington concluded his high school career as a three-time state champion, a first in Brick Memorial's storied wrestling program. Competing at 190 pounds, Ludington defeated Vincenzo LaValle of Hanover Park with a 7-3 decision in the state finals. His remarkable record of 154-3 underscores his consistency and dominance over the years. Ludington's achievements have earned him a spot on the University of Iowa's wrestling team, reflecting his standing as one of the nation's top recruits.
Jayden James, Delbarton
Senior Jayden James finished off his stellar junior season as an undefeated state championship at 150 pounds, showcasing his high level skill throughout the season. James defeated Jamar Dixon Jr. of Delsea by pin in the state finals, further solidifying Delbarton’s dominance in the upper weights. With a resume that includes multiple deep postseason runs and impressive wins over the nation’s top wrestlers, James has earned his place among New Jersey’s best.
Ryan Burton, St. Joe's
Senior Ryan Burton closed out his high school career as a two-time state champion, reinforcing his dominance in New Jersey wrestling. Competing at 175 pounds, Burton delivered a statement victory in the state finals, securing a 20-6 major decision over Jordan Chapman, proving once again that he was a level above the competition.
His season was nothing short of elite, finishing undefeated with multiple technical falls and dominant wins against top-ranked opponents. Burton was a driving force behind St. Joseph’s Non-Public Group A state championship run, playing a critical role in their team success.
