Coverage by: Nery Rodriguez

#5 Union Catholic secured a hard-fought 56-50 victory over #13 Elizabeth in an exciting back and forth showdown. Both teams brought their A-game, but Union Catholic managed to edge out Elizabeth in the closing moments.

AJ Altobelli was the standout performer for Union Catholic, leading his team with 18 points. His ability to drive to the basket and convert free throws proved crucial in securing the win.

Elizabeth put up a strong fight, with Jayden Johnson scoring an impressive 20 points, including five three-pointers, to keep his team in the game. Cameron McRae added 16 points while also contributing with 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Despite their efforts, Elizabeth struggled to contain Union Catholic's balanced attack and fell just short.

After the game Farouk Muntari talked about their execution on the evening. "Coach told us its a race to 55 and we finished with 56". "It's not always about scoring, it comes down to the defense too... when you do good in practice, it will show in the game"

This closely contested matchup highlighted the skill of both teams and tight competition within Union County. Union Catholic will look to build on this win, with a very tough Plainfield team ahead. Elizabeth aims to bounce back in their next game with another match up Agasint Plainfield too.
