Third Times the Charm as Hoboken Rolls Past Weehawken in Playoff Battle
The battle between Hoboken High School and Weehawken was a thrilling match-up with an electric atmosphere. Both teams came into the game with high stakes, knowing that a win would advance into the North Jersey 2, Group 1 Sectional Championship. With losses in the season series, Weehawken had to buckle down and show they were not ready go end their season just yet.
The game started off with both teams playing strong, with the first quarter being a back-and-forth battle. Hoboken managed to pull ahead with a score of 18-15 by the end of the quarter. Weehawken fought back in the second quarter, but Hoboken was able to maintain their lead, ending the first half with a score of 31-24 in their favor.
Hoboken came out of halftime with a newfound energy, dominating the third quarter and outscoring Weehawken 14-8. Weehawken fought hard in the final quarter, but it was too little too late, and Hoboken held on to their lead to secure a 63-48 victory.
The leading scorer for the Hoboken Red Wings was Simon Celiberti, who put up an impressive 19 points, while his teammate Dorien Moorman added 12 points and Lamix Boxley and Bryson Lopez both contributed 10 points. Jasir Lane also had a solid performance with 6 points and 12 rebounds. The team had a strong all-around performance, with several players contributing both offensively and defensively.
With this win, Hoboken improved their season record to 20-8 and advance to the N2G1 Sectional Finals where they will play the top seed, Newark Tech. Both teams have been playing well and we expect nothing less than a hard battle. Look out for the Red Wings this Monday, February 27th.
