In a stellar display of talent, St. John Vianney’s sophomore ace, Madison McDougall, pitched a no-hitter game to lead the Lancers to a commanding 10-0 win over Matawan. This victory extends the Lancers’ winning streak to seven games, solidifying their position as the number ranked team in our NJ Athletics Top-20 rankings.

From the opening pitch, McDougall’s presence in the circle was electrifying. Over the course of five innings, she was untouchable, delivering a series of pitches that left the Huskies scrambling. With 12 strikeouts on the day, McDougall was the architect of a no-hitter game.

The Lancers wasted no time giving McDougall a comfortable lead, erupting for seven runs in the bottom of the first inning. Putting together a string of hits, the Lancers made sure to capitalize with each base runner. Giuliana Cardin, Brynn Utter Nicole Giglio and McDougall contributed significantly to the Lancers’ offense picking up 9 of the teams 13 hits.

A no-hitter is a rare gem in softball, a feat that speaks volumes of a player’s skill and mental fortitude. For McDougall and St. John Vianney, this game was a showcase of their championship spirit and their relentless pursuit of excellence.
With an 11-1 record and a winning streak that seems only to be gaining momentum, St. John Vianney looks ahead to the rest of the season with confidence and the drive to maintain their elite status.
