Six Straight. Don Bosco Prep Captures Another Bergen County Title

Six in a row. Let that sink in for a second.

Don Bosco Prep is the Bergen County champion — again — after a commanding 8–2 win over Ridgewood Saturday evening in Mahwah. The Ironmen were in control for the majority of this one, and when Ridgewood made it interesting, Bosco answered. That's what championship programs do. That's what this program has done, year after year after year.

The game opened with both teams trading blows in the first quarter. Heston Halesworth got Don Bosco on the board first, finishing to make it 1–0. Ridgewood answered back through AJ LoSauro, set up by his brother Will, to tie it at one heading into the second. For a moment, it felt like this might be the night someone finally knocked Bosco off.

The second quarter ended that conversation quickly. John Devir took over. The Georgetown commit and dual-sport standout scored twice in the period, sandwiching a goal from Hudson Villaruel. The Ironmen went on a 3–0 run to turn a tie game into a 4–1 advantage at the half.

Brady Kushner opened the third with his first of the game, assisted by Dashiell Lane, to push the lead to four. Ridgewood responded through Will LoSauro to make it 5–2, but that would be as close as the Maroons would get. Don Bosco's defense suffocated any sustained offensive push from there, and goalie Brody Corey was sharp when called upon, finishing with seven saves on the night. The fourth quarter was the Ironmen putting their stamp on it. Kushner added his second of the game and Villaruel closed out the scoring with his second as well, assisted by Devir, to make it a final of 8–2.

After the game, Devir spoke on what made the Ironmen click. "We knew that winning this game was the standard at our school," he said. "Coming off beating them a week before, we knew we had to show up. We did a good job working as one unit and playing a strong four quarters of Bosco lacrosse. What really clicked for our team was just our brotherhood and the trust we had — it showed throughout the whole game from our defense to our offense, even through our coaches. They showed full trust in us throughout the whole game."

For a program that has built this kind of sustained excellence, the weight of six straight titles isn't lost on the players carrying it. Devir made that clear. "This title means everything for the program," he said. "It's part of the three-step journey this season — winning this, the Gibbs, and states. Looking back on who started this team and really put Bosco on the map, it just means everything for us to get that win and to keep the title at Bosco and keep the standard set by the guys who set it six championships ago."

Six straight Bergen County titles. A roster full of high-major recruits who play like a family. A championship mindset baked into the program's DNA. Don Bosco Prep isn't just winning — they're building something that future players will be measured against for years to come. The postseason is here, and the Ironmen are ready.
