Seton Hall Prep Ends Three-Year Skid Against Delbarton with a Dominant 24–7 Win

Seton Hall Prep had not beaten Delbarton since 2022. That drought ended Saturday afternoon in convincing fashion. The Pirates outscored the 12th-ranked Green Wave 24–7, controlled the second half completely, and sent a message to the rest of New Jersey's non-public landscape that this program is not to be taken lightly.

Delbarton drew first blood in the first quarter. DJ Benfatti, stepping in at running back with starter Kobe Erby-Mason sidelined, punched in a three-yard run to put the Green Wave up 7–0. Benfatti finished with 75 yards on 15 carries and was Delbarton's most reliable offensive option all afternoon. But after that early score, the Pirates took over and never looked back.

Jaylin Bullock engineered the response. The Seton Hall Prep quarterback capped a sustained drive with a one-yard sneak to tie the game, then a Jackson DeStefano 30-yard field goal just before halftime gave the Pirates a 10–7 edge heading into the locker room. The blocked Delbarton field goal attempt in the second quarter was the kind of momentum swing that changes the feel of a game entirely — and from that point forward, Seton Hall had all of it.

The third quarter belonged to sophomore Jameson Studer. On a Delbarton screen pass attempt, the ball hit the turf and Studer scooped it and returned it 52 yards for a touchdown, turning a routine play into one of the most electric moments of the afternoon. The home crowd at CAC erupted. Moments later, Studer added a sack on Delbarton's next possession, giving him a fumble return touchdown and a sack in a matter of minutes. For a sophomore to take over a rivalry game like that is something programs remember for a long time.

Bullock then put the game out of reach with a 50-yard touchdown run that made it 24–7. He finished the day with 94 rushing yards and two scores on the ground, doing all of his damage without throwing a touchdown pass. Seton Hall ran the ball 35 times for 209 yards and simply imposed their will on Delbarton's defense.

The Green Wave managed just 97 passing yards through Gavin Gilardi and 129 on the ground, unable to find any sustained rhythm against a Seton Hall defense that kept them out of the end zone after the first quarter. Colin Moore and Jayden Crawford combined for consistent pressure in the backfield, and Taylor Daniels came up with a critical stop on a fourth-down conversion attempt in the fourth quarter that effectively ended Delbarton's last real chance.

Seton Hall Prep and Delbarton both move to 2-2 with the result. For the Pirates, this win carries weight beyond the record. Three years of losses to a program you share a division with leaves a mark, and the way they handled Saturday — wire to wire, with physicality and a breakout performance from a sophomore — suggests this team is building toward something worth watching the rest of the fall.
