In a highly anticipated showdown between two of New Jersey’s premier lacrosse programs, No. 4 Seton Hall Prep hosted No. 3 Summit, looking to avenge last year's loss to the Hilltoppers. The Pirates did exactly that, delivering a gritty performance and securing a significant 7-5 victory on their home turf.

Seton Hall Prep struck first, with Joe DelMauro finding the back of the net midway through the opening quarter. Summit answered quickly, as Chris Davies provided an acrobatic equalizer, ending the first quarter tied at one.

In the second quarter, the Pirates controlled the pace. Clark Rich showcased his strength and determination, barreling through Summit's tough defensive zone to put his team back in front. Charlie Killen added another, extending Seton Hall Prep’s lead to 3-1 by halftime.

Summit started the third quarter aggressively, narrowing the gap with a goal from Will Iacovelli. However, the Pirates responded swiftly, as DelMauro fired home his second goal only 15 seconds later. Summit’s James Grainger kept things tight, cutting the lead to a single goal, and the teams headed into the final quarter with Seton Hall Prep leading 4-3.

In the decisive fourth quarter, the Pirates ramped up their offensive pressure. Owen Dunleavy ignited a scoring spree that was capped by a highlight-reel play from DelMauro, who intercepted a pass and promptly converted for his third goal of the game, sealing a hat trick and building a commanding 7-3 lead.

Summit fought hard to mount a late comeback, with quick goals from Quinn Hynes and Chris Davies, but the Pirates' goalie Connor Keenan stood firm in the final seconds to secure the win.

Joe DelMauro, the Utah commit, shined with a team-high three goals and an assist, leading all scorers. Clark Rich contributed two pivotal goals and an assist, solidifying a balanced offensive attack for Seton Hall Prep. He states "we knew that summit was going to be a tough opponent when playing them again this season. Leading up to the game we kept it in the back of our minds that we lost last year and played with a chip on our shoulder. Because of this, the team worked hard together, performing as a unit with intensity and composure. Coach Svec and the rest of the staff have prepared us well all season and are a huge factor towards our success. The team was happy with the win however we are always working to get better and know that we have more to improve on."

The victory lifts Seton Hall Prep's record to 7-2 and solidifies their position among New Jersey's elite teams, ensuring at least a top-three ranking. Summit moves to 6-2, reflecting on a tough loss despite a commendable performance against formidable competition.
