Roselle Catholic is Poised for a National Title
Recently, Mackenzie Mgbako, a top 5 prospect in the high school class of 2023 and Duke University commit, announced that he will be transferring to Roselle Catholic for his senior year. Mgbako will be teaming up with fellow top prospect Simeon Wilcher, who is committed to the University of North Carolina.
Even though Roselle Catholic was able to win the Tournament of Champions (TOC) this past year, this move allows them to have even more firepower than before. Standing at 6’7, Mgbako is a versatile forward that can dribble, shoot, and pass at a level where many scouts believe he is already NBA ready. Mgbako was able to really separate himself as a potential superstar as he was recognized as being one of the top players in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL), which is regarded as arguably the most competitive high school basketball circuit in the country. Mgbako averaged 18.3 points and 8.3 rebounds throughout the tournament.
This move puts Roselle Catholic on a different level, not only in the state, but gives them the potential to be the best team in the country after they ended their 2022 campaign ranked #4. It is safe to say that with two Top 15 prospects on their team, Roselle Catholic will wreak havoc on any opposition they face. This move adds to what will already an exciting season on the hardwood in the coming months!
