Rising Sophomore Michai White Launches Point Guard Skills Academy
Rising New Jersey star Michai White is making headlines not just for his play on the court, but for how he’s choosing to give back. This summer, the standout guard is hosting his first-ever camp, the Michai White Point Guard Skills Academy, in partnership with Jersey Sports Group.
For White, this moment has been a long time coming. “I’ve actually been wanting to do a camp since I was in like 7th or 8th grade,” he says. Inspired by camps hosted by older players such as Elliot Cadeau, White remembers the motivation he carried home from those events. “I’ve always wanted to be that kind of inspiration for the generation coming up behind me. This has been on my heart for years.”
The camp isn’t just about putting kids through workouts. It’s about giving them access to the same network and knowledge that elevated White’s game. To make that happen, he’s bringing in respected trainers and mentors including Hallice Cooke, Tarik Robinson, and Durand Scott. “Most of them are people who played a big role in my own growth. Their training isn’t just flashy — it’s the real stuff that shows up when it counts,” White explains.
White hopes his camp leaves a lasting impression. “It’s built, not born,” he says. “Not everyone wakes up elite like a LeBron. You grind for it. You train for it. You study the game. It’s your work ethic and willingness to stay consistent that separates you.” Beyond the fundamentals, he wants campers to leave feeling confident, motivated, and energized about their potential.
At the heart of this camp is a deeper mission. “This is home. Jersey basketball has shaped me, especially in my teen years. So being able to give back means a lot. For me, it’s the start of building my legacy.”
With the launch of the Michai White Point Guard Skills Academy, White is creating a platform for young players to learn, grow, and chase their own dreams — just as he did not too long ago.
