This intense matchup not only tested the resilience of both teams but also underscored the tactical acumen and spirited play essential in high-stakes football.
The match opened with a burst of energy as Ramapo's Dylan Rosano swiftly found the end zone with a 3-yard touchdown run, setting a competitive tone. Charlie Wingfield's successful extra point gave Ramapo an early lead. Ridge, determined not to fall behind, kept pace, matching Ramapo's intensity throughout the game.
Ridge's Aidan Stieglitz was a standout, showcasing his explosive ability with a 68-yard touchdown sprint, answering Ramapo in the first quarter. Stieglitz proved crucial throughout the night, adding two more touchdowns from short distances which highlighted his knack for finding gaps in critical moments.
The game's dynamics shifted continuously, with Ridge's Connor McLachlan connecting with Ryan Turner for a 68-yard touchdown pass, to extend their lead to 27-7. It seemed like The Red Devils were running away with it, as Ramapo hadn’t found the endzone since the first quarter.
However, Ramapo wasn’t done yet. The Raiders finally got back on track after some trickery, as Sal Livati took a handoff and threw it back to QB Casey Grusser for a 2-yard TD pass. This made it a 2 possession game with the whole 4th quarter left to play.
Ramapo RB Liam Hayward took over the game in the final quarter. Hayward brought the Raiders within 6 points after a 22-yard TD run. He followed that up with a 13-yard TD catch, followed by Wingfield’s crucial extra point, clinching the victory for the Raiders. Ramapo’s defense stood stout throughout the 4th quarter, shutting Ridge’s offense down and not allowing them to extend their lead.
As Ramapo advances to the finals, they carry with them the momentum and confidence from a game that tested their mettle and showcased their capability to perform under pressure. The Raiders are now poised for the ultimate test in the championship game against an undefeated Morris Knolls team.
