Old Bridge Erases 26-Point Halftime Deficit to Stun Piscataway

There is no rational explanation for what happened in Old Bridge on Friday night. None. Piscataway led 26–0 at halftime. They had Zaire Young running through everything the Knights put in front of him. They looked like the best team in the Big Central Conference and then some. And then Old Bridge went into the locker room, came back out, and outscored Piscataway 27–0 over the final two quarters to win 27–26. If you weren't there, you almost wouldn't believe it.
The first half belonged entirely to Piscataway. Young was dominant from the opening possession, finding the end zone four times on the ground and finishing the night with 161 rushing yards on 32 carries. The Chiefs moved the ball at will, blocked two extra point kicks and still led by four scores, and there was nothing Old Bridge did in the first 24 minutes of football to suggest what was coming. Piscataway headed into halftime looking like a team about to hand someone a beatdown.
Chase Rizzo made sure that never happened. The Old Bridge running back and receiver had one of the most complete individual performances of the season in the second half, accounting for all four of the Knights' touchdowns across the final two quarters. He opened the third quarter with a 74-yard touchdown run that broke the shutout and immediately changed the energy on both sidelines. He followed that with a one-yard plunge to make it 26–13, then hauled in a 20-yard touchdown pass from Aiden Rios to cut it to 26–20 heading into the fourth. The momentum had completely shifted and Piscataway couldn't stop it.
Rios, who finished 5-of-9 for 115 yards and two scores, delivered when the game was on the line. With Old Bridge needing one more score to complete the comeback, he found Rizzo again — this time on a 71-yard strike that gave the Knights a 27–26 lead with enough time for Piscataway to answer but not enough to do anything with it. The defense held, the clock ran out, and Old Bridge had pulled off one of the most remarkable second-half performances New Jersey high school football has seen this season.
Rizzo finished the night with 138 yards on the ground, 91 receiving, and four touchdowns — all of them scored after halftime, all of them critical. On defense he added a pick for good measure. Rios complemented him perfectly in the second half, making quick decisions and delivering on the two throws that mattered most. For Old Bridge, this win is the kind that gets talked about for years.
Piscataway falls to 4-1 and will need to regroup after letting a 26-point lead evaporate in under 24 minutes of football. Young's four-touchdown night in the first half is a legitimate performance — but it means nothing when the second half produces zero points. Old Bridge improves to 4-1 as well and sends a very loud message to the rest of the BCC. This team is not to be written off when the game gets away from them early.
