Grimaldi’s Home Run, Savage’s Dominance Lift RBC Past Randolph in Tight Battle

In a game that felt like it could swing at any moment, Red Bank Catholic stayed patient—and when their chance came, they made it count.

The Caseys edged Randolph 2–1 at the Black and Gold Invitational, using a clutch swing from Grace Grimaldi and a dominant outing in the circle from Mackenna Savage to secure the win.

Randolph’s Breanna Colburn was sharp through the first four innings, keeping RBC off balance and limiting scoring chances. Even as the Caseys put runners on and applied pressure, they couldn’t break through. On the other side, Savage was just as locked in, racking up strikeouts and controlling the tempo from the circle.

Randolph struck first in the third, scratching across a run behind timely hitting from Lily Zepp and an RBI from Cassidy Smith to take a 1–0 lead. It was the kind of game where one run felt like it could be enough.

After Colburn exited, the Caseys quickly took advantage of the pitching change in the fifth inning. With traffic building, Grace Grimaldi stepped in and delivered the biggest swing of the game—a two-run shot that flipped the scoreboard and gave RBC a 2–1 lead.

Savage took control down the stretch, finishing with 14 strikeouts in a complete-game performance. The sophomore continued to impress, attacking hitters and shutting down any momentum Randolph tried to build late. The defense backed her up when needed, and RBC held firm over the final two innings to lock in the win.

Offensively, Jayden Kane and Lia Marks helped set the tone with multiple hits, keeping the pressure on throughout the game until the breakthrough finally came. For Red Bank Catholic, it’s a gritty win against a strong opponent.
