Griffin Linstra's Late Heroics Send Manasquan to Group 2 Final

In a rematch filled with anticipation and a year's worth of waiting for redemption, Manasquan High School seized the moment against Camden in the Group 2 semifinals, clinching a dramatic 44-43 victory. The game, held at Monroe, saw Manasquan's Griffin Linstra turn hero with a game-winning shot that will be remembered for years to come.

The match opened with Camden setting the pace, leading the first quarter with a narrow two-point advantage. David Munro of Camden showcased his offense early, contributing significantly to their lead. However, Manasquan was not far behind, as they quickly found their rhythm, with Logan Cleveland starting strong for the Warriors.

As the game progressed, the lead switched hands multiple times. Manasquan's defense tightened, and by the end of the first half, the teams were neck and neck, tied at 25 points each. The tension was palpable as both teams exited for halftime, knowing that the second half would demand their best efforts.

The third quarter was a defensive showcase, with both teams struggling to pull away. Rey Weinseimer and Griffin Linstra stepped up for Manasquan, pushing their team ahead with crucial plays. As the final quarter unfolded, the atmosphere intensified, with each possession carrying the weight of their season’s aspirations.

In the game's dying moments, Linstra made the play of the day. With just 2.7 seconds on the clock and his team trailing by one, Linstra received the ball and made a decisive move to the basket, scoring the go-ahead bucket that ultimately sealed Manasquan's victory. His performance not only showcased his clutch ability but also exemplified the spirit and determination of his team.

After the game, an elated Linstra shared his thoughts, "It's a surreal moment. I'm so happy for our town, and they showed out for us today. Some of these guys are my best friends, and I'm happy to get them to Rutgers." Linstra also credited his coach's influence in those final moments, "Coach told us we got this coming out of the huddle, and everyone just had a tremendous amount of belief between me and the coaches." This trust and belief were evident as Manasquan executed their game plan flawlessly when it mattered most.

Reflecting on the day, Linstra added, "I was just excited to play today; there weren't any nerves. I woke up today very excited to play in this great atmosphere; this place was rocking and a dream."

With this win, Manasquan advances to the state finals at Rutgers, where they will face Madison for the Group 2 title. As they prepare for this significant challenge, the victory over Camden will surely serve as a pivotal moment of inspiration. The Warriors will look to carry with them the momentum and confidence.
