Flood Gates Open Early as St. Peter's Prep Rolls Mainland, 15–1

Some teams take a few innings to find their rhythm. St. Peter's Prep didn't need that kind of time.
From the very first at-bat Saturday afternoon in Spotswood, the Marauders made it clear this was going to be their day. By the time the first inning was over, St. Peter's had put up 10 runs — a barrage so swift and so relentless that the game's outcome was effectively decided before Mainland's bats had a single chance to respond. Anthony Huaranga was everywhere, crossing the plate multiple times in the inning alone as the lineup cycled through with walk after walk and hit after hit. Mainland starter Ryan Bradly lasted just two-thirds of an inning, chased off the mound having faced a lineup that simply had no off switch.
If the first inning was the knockout, the second was the exclamation point. With the score already out of reach, David Tallarida stepped to the plate and launched a home run — adding insult to injury and sending a message that the Marauders weren't just winning, they were imposing their will. Three more runs crossed in the second inning, pushing the lead to 13 before the game was even a quarter of the way through.
While the offense was doing the heavy lifting early, Hudson Giddens was quietly putting together one of his best outings of the season on the mound. Working efficiently behind a massive lead, Giddens went five innings, struck out eight, and allowed just one unearned run — a Chase Sutley score in the fifth that broke up what would have been a shutout. He never lost focus, never got sloppy with the game in hand, and never gave Mainland a reason to believe they could string something together. That's the mark of a competitor.
Mainland's pitching staff cycled through four arms trying to stem the tide, burning 149 combined pitches over five innings. Aiden Grasso provided the most stability in relief, but the early hole — 13 runs through two innings — was a mountain no bullpen was climbing on this afternoon. Thatcher Partelow finished with four RBIs, Huaranga scored four times, and Andrew Breihof added a pair of hits and two RBIs in what was ultimately a full team effort from the Marauders.
St. Peter's improves to 12-6 overall and 8-2 in HCIAL-American play. Mainland drops to 10-4. The Mustangs have the record and the talent to bounce back — but Saturday was a reminder of exactly what St. Peter's Prep is capable of when everything clicks at once.
