CBA Powers Past Camden Catholic in Quarterfinal Rout

Christian Brothers Academy put together one of its most complete performances of the season, rolling past Camden Catholic 81–47 in the South Jersey Non-Public A quarterfinals. The Colts improved to 24–3 and now sit two wins away from Rutgers.

From the opening tip, the theme was clear. Share it. Cut hard. Trust the system.

Avery Lynch got things going early, finding his spots and knocking down shots as CBA built an early lead. Once the first few threes fell, the floor opened up and the ball movement only got sharper. The Colts swung it side to side, drove gaps, kicked out to shooters and kept Camden Catholic chasing for four quarters.

CBA led 17–14 after one as Ryder Lacey hits a deep three point shot at the buzzer. Despite a 3 point game in the first, the score broke open in the second quarter with a 23–4 run. That stretch defined the night. The Colts defended without fouling, dominated the glass and turned defensive stops into clean offensive possessions.

Lynch finished with 17 points, leading a balanced scoring effort that saw 13 different players get on the board. Conor Andree added 10 points inside, Charlie Marcoullier scored 10, and Charlie Messano knocked down two threes as part of an eight-point night. Eight total threes as a team highlighted the spacing and execution.

But it wasn’t just offense. CBA’s defense set the tone. Camden Catholic never found a rhythm, managing just four points in the second quarter and struggling to generate consistent half-court looks. The Colts controlled the tempo and forced the Irish to play at a pace they weren’t comfortable with.

After the game, Lynch spoke about what makes this group dangerous.

“Just every single day in practice, we work together as a team,” Lynch said. “We have a system, everyone knows it, everyone follows it. If we believe in it and believe in each other, that’s why we move the rock so well.”

That belief shows. With several players following Coach Lynch from St. Rose, the chemistry looks natural. The system is familiar. The expectations are clear. “To get to Rutgers, it’s very tough,” Lynch added. “Every single time it’s gonna get harder and harder. We just gotta be ready for it.”

CBA will likely see another heavyweight in St. Peter's the next round, but if the Colts continue to defend, rebound and move the ball like they did Monday night, they’ll give themselves every opportunity to keep this run going.

Two more games stand between them and Rutgers. Based on this performance, CBA looks ready for the challenge.
