CBA Edges Out Southern Regional in a Nail-Biting Wrestling Encounter
In a wrestling match that kept fans on the edge of their seats, Christian Brothers Academy narrowly defeated Southern Regional with a final score of 30-28, thanks in part to a crucial performance by Nick Campagna. The matchup was a showcase of determination and skill, with each team battling fiercely for every point.
Southern Regional started strong, with Mitch Bivona earning a tight 3-2 decision at 175 pounds, followed by Bradford Birch's 12-6 victory at 190 pounds, and Levi Foote's pivotal pin at 215 pounds. The momentum continued as Collin French took the heavyweight match by forfeit, putting Southern in a commanding 18-0 lead.
However, CBA began their comeback with Killian Coluccio taking a major win at 106 pounds, overcoming a top state opponent. Paul Kenny followed suit, pinning his opponent at 113 pounds. The tide turned as Justin Repetti and Bobby Duffy secured decisions at 120 and 126 pounds, respectively, with Duffy's pin bringing the score to an even 18-18.
CBA took the lead with Will Sakoutis's 3-1 decision at 132 pounds and AJ Falcone's narrow 1-0 victory over a top wrestler at 138 pounds. Alex Nini extended the lead with a pin at 144 pounds, setting CBA ahead 30-18.
Southern Regional wasn't finished yet, as Wyatt Stout won in a tiebreaker at 150 pounds, and Matt Henrich secured a major decision at 157 pounds. Hayden Hochstrasser's 7-4 win at 165 pounds against Nick Campagna brought Southern Regional tantalizingly close to a win.
