In one of the weekend’s premier matchups across South Jersey, Camden Football showed exactly why they’re one of the most dangerous teams in the state this fall.

The Panthers leaned on explosive offense, timely defense, and belief in one another to grind out a 26-21 victory over Kingsway in a physical, high-stakes battle. The win moves Camden to 2-1 on the year and sends a message that they’re locked in for a championship run.

Kingsway came out firing behind quarterback David Oravetz, who threw for 281 yards and 3 touchdowns, including a 58-yard strike on their first drive. But Camden answered quickly as Christian Braxton took off for a 26-yard touchdown and Ibn Muhammad hauled in a deep 58-yard score of his own from Gregory Wyche Jr., giving the Panthers a 14-7 lead.

In the third quarter, Roman Duckett turned the sideline into his personal runway, breaking loose for a 72-yard touchdown to extend Camden’s lead to 20-7. Kingsway would battle back with two more touchdown passes from Oravetz — including a 76-yard bomb to Cole DeNick — to briefly take a 21-20 lead.

But Camden stayed composed.

With the game on the line in the fourth, Jaythan Candelario muscled his way in for a 1-yard go-ahead touchdown. The defense did the rest — forcing stops and sealing the game with clutch plays from a gritty unit led by Ibn Muhammad, who not only had a sack and 94 receiving yards but served as the emotional heartbeat of the team.

“We believe in the guy next to us. That’s what it’s about,” Muhammad said. “This year, we’re coming for everything.”
