Bergen Catholic delivered a compelling performance to clinch the North Non-Public A championship with a 58-49 victory over Don Bosco Prep at Franklin High School. Another chapter in this rivalry goes to the Crusaders and also propelled them into the state finals at Rutgers.

The game kicked off with both teams showcasing their offensive skills, but it was Bergen Catholic that gradually pulled ahead. Jaden Brown led the charge with an impressive 22 points, helping to establish and then extend Bergen Catholic's lead, particularly during a pivotal 23-point burst in the third quarter. Declan Wucherpfennig also made significant contributions, adding 18 points and dominating defensively with 9 rebounds.

Bergen Catholic's defense was particularly noteworthy. They executed a robust strategy that effectively contained Don Bosco's key players, limiting their scoring opportunities and maintaining control of the game's tempo.

After the game, Jaden Brown emphasized the team's cohesive strategy and preparation. "Our mindset was to stick to our principles and not let them slow us down in transition. We play how we play, and today that was crucial in securing the win," Brown stated.

He further highlighted the team's preparation methods, "We always say we practice how we play, and we're going to practice hard. Nothing is really going to change. Film is also a factor, but our focus is on practicing like we are playing on Friday."

Coach Billy Armstrong of Bergen Catholic also praised his team's effort and resilience. "Our boys showed great character today. They played with intensity, and their hard work throughout the season has paid off with this championship. Now, we prepare for an even bigger challenge," he remarked.

As Bergen Catholic looks forward to the state finals, their victory over Don Bosco Prep not only demonstrates their capability but also sets a high bar for their forthcoming challenge. The team’s ability to execute their game plan under pressure and adapt strategically provides them with a solid foundation for their quest for the state title.
